Dick Swart
Researcher & Lecturer CMD
I was born in 1960 (Middelburg) and I am currently living in Amsterdam. Today I work as a lecturer at the school for Communication and Multimedia Design at the Faculty of Communication and Journalism (FCJ) at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht).
My professional career started after my graduation from the Academy of Arts at Arnhem where I studied Product Design. After an extra course in Computer Sciences I started working in the field of Multimedia at the most renowned, famous and notorious company in the world of ICT called: BSO (chaired by Eckart Wintzen). I worked there for more ten years as a designer, programmer, consultant and project manager. From a hands-on kind of guy towards a more conceptual role. After BSO (nowadays called Atos Orign) I worked at NOB Interactive in the same capacity. In 2002 I made the jump to teaching. At the FCJ, I am mainly involved in teaching, course development and the development of new majors. in 2011 I received my Master of Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Utrecht. Since september 2012 I work two day's a week at the lab.
In my personal life I like to sail on my 'platbodem', read books, raise two girls and write my own children’s book called 'Tioon'. The last kind of got out of hand because it will be series of four books eventually. I'm also involved in Skepsis, an organization for critical thinking.
