Lecturer ICM
Since 2006 I am course leader of the Master International Communication Management (MICM) and I was the very first lecturer in this professional master programme starting in 2003. In 2008 I also became coordinator international contacts for the Faculty of Communication & Journalism (FCJ) of the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. From 2009 I do research for the Research Circle Cross-media Content Business Models; my subject is Blended Learning Environment; I want to find out what the best combination is of online and offline teaching methods for specific learning objectives. Next to these activities I am still a teacher Strategic Communication and thesis-supervisor for several students in the final stage of their bachelor study.
It was a surprise for me that I became a teacher. My father is a teacher and many members of my family are teachers, but I never considered this job when I was younger. When I finished High School I went to the Design Academy in Eindhoven and found out that communication really fascinates me. Therefore I graduated as a communication scientist from Radbout University Nijmegen in 1991 – with a market research for Dutch Design. Then I became a self-employed communication advisor, copywriter and trainer. I quickly built-up a network and I was asked to teach on a university of applied sciences in Rotterdam. Later I taught in Zwolle, Diemen and The Hague. Since 2001 I work in Utrecht.
