I grew up in southern China, a city called Fuzhou. In 1997 I had the opportunity to move to the Netherlands, re-uniting with my mom. After graduating the secondary education (VWO) I went to the Delft university of Technology studying Industrial Design. It took me sometime before I came to realise that I wanted something else, something more practical. With the rapid growth of the internet and mobile technology, I became more interested in the multimedia sector. So I began a new study Media Technology at the HU university of applied science, institute of technology.
During the 4-year course I was introduced to a several exciting new technologies, medias, the changes in the internet-landscape from traditional textual contents to nowadays interactivity between men and the machine. All those new exciting things really have broadened my horizon. That’s why I took the optional course Broadcasting and Crossmedia Technology. Together with two other participants we wrote a article on “bringing IPTV to modern mobile network”.
At the moment I’m conducting a graduate research together with Jeroen van Leeuwen on the subject Rich media in education here at the CrossmediaLab. Our aim is to find out how can we enrich the web lecture platform. What are the necessary requirements to ensure the platform’s accessibility?
Besides the thesis, we’ll also be building a prototype based on our findings. We hope our knowledge in both software engineering and interaction design will enhance the web lecture that HU corrently is deploying.
