Esther Kool

Graduate Student

"I started off in 2006 studying Image and Media Technology at the Utrecht school of arts, and my passion for new media and design has yet to diminish. In 2007 I moved on to International Communication and Media at the university of applied sciences Utrecht. I figured this course would combine a lot ofelements of things I love; people, diversity, and media.
During my third year of ICM I did my minor abroad at Leeds Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom. Due to the limitations of the faculty I studied at, I had to settle for courses in cultural and brand management, but this did leave me with a better understanding of how to attract and, hopefully, intrigue people. I continued on to do a placement at the Netherlands Youth Institute, where I worked as a communications advisor and graphic designer.

The knowledge I gained and the interests I have, have driven me to apply for a research position at the Crossmedialab; Location Based Services for retailers. During my research I will hope to find out ways to use Location Based Services to integrate online and offline shopping behavior in the city heart of Utrecht; my home. I hope to be able to use my skills of marketing and my knowledge of usability to provide a concept of an LSB specifically designed for retailers in Utrecht."
