After attending the Willem de Kooning School of arts I started working as an independent artist and freelance designer in 1998. With the rise of the internet there was a world of opportunities, I’ve been working on a many different digital projects. This resulted in a wide range of products. I’ve been involved in realization of projects including websites, animations, multimedia productions, TV commercials and even print.
While working on these projects I always have been working on art projects. In my art projects the focus always has been telling stories. I’ve always started with an idea rather then starting with paint and a canvas. Working as an artist a cross media approach seems very natural and close to the way I always have been working on projects. Start with a story, find appropriate media to spread the story and find a way to make relations with other works.
Around 2003 I became involved in running two different art galleries. One gallery was focusing on the more traditional arts, the other one on experimental and conceptual arts. I’ve enjoyed organizing expositions, manifestations, pop concerts, theatre events and other art projects for five years, but found I needed to focus on a a new and different thing round 2007.
I’ve started working at the Hogeschool Utrecht teaching web design, digital storytelling, communication design and some other courses. I enjoy working with students and helping then realize their projects, and developing new courses. I started at CELL late 2008 and at this moment the focus of my work is research into experience of media. I am currently working on events experience in relation to other media.
